This 36-inch Panchdhatu sculpture depicts Lord Vishnu, the Preserver and protector of the universe, in his majestic four-armed form. Crafted using the lost-wax casting process, the sculpture is shaped in wax, transformed into metal, and hand-finished with chisels to reveal intricate details. The antique bronze patina enhances its depth, giving the deity a timeless aura.
In his hands, Vishnu carries his divine attributes: the chakra (wheel of time and cosmic law), the shankha (conch shell symbolizing life force and the primordial sound), the gada (mace of justice and strength), and the padma (lotus representing purity and transcendence). These emblems together embody Vishnu’s eternal role as the sustainer of balance in the cosmos.
The finely carved crown, layered jewellery, and pleated dhoti reflect the lineage of South Indian temple artistry, where Vishnu is revered in countless shrines. The tall lotus-petal pedestal elevates the figure, symbolizing purity rising from the earthly realm.
